New response to the drug crisis
There is growing evidence of a new crisis of drugs, alcohol and physical abuse among young women.
A growing problem
Research projects, statistical analysis, academic studies and media reports document the incessant growth. The evidence is increasingly striking - in the streets, the hospitals and the courts.
Yet the true nature of this crisis is not understood. It misses both the root cause and the extensive impact. It overlooks the indispensable role women play in the stabilising of the immediate and wider family circle. It ignores the truth that when a mother is vulnerable there is damage to so many others who in turn become victims.
It disregards the painful reality that children of unsupported addicted women frequently suffer violence and physical and psychological abuse. These children so often turn into the next generation of addicts.
Our unique pathway ends this dark cycle of addiction within families and replaces it with the light of faith in a loving and caring God.
The shortcomings of the current responses
Many are struggling to deal with the countless problems that arise from addiction and the physical and emotional abuse, ill-health and homelessness that often follow.
Individuals, families, state organisations, charities and churches all seek to provide a response. These efforts range from the struggles of isolated individuals to state funded programmes prescribing legally authorised drugs in an effort to manage the most destructive impact of the crisis.
There are two common features to the wide range of responses. Firstly, they are well intentioned in their desire to respond to the pain addiction brings. Secondly - and most starkly - while some may have a limited benefit they all fail to provide a long term resolution.
Our tested & proven solution
Pobal Mhuire provide a tested and proven solution. Through many decades of assisting individuals suffering the pain of addiction we have developed an unrivalled understanding of the specific steps needed for a long term solution.
We begin by taking individuals from a place of vulnerability to a place of refuge where they can break the addiction to alcohol or drugs.
But our pathway does so much more than that. We continue far beyond the point where other responses stop. We fill the void that led to the craving.
Through decades of hearing thousands of individual stories we have developed a thorough understanding of the emptiness that lies in the heart of the addict. We have seen how a life revived by hope, by faith, by light brings a permanent end to the futility of their addiction.
In truth, it is the only thing that can. We act as a guardian and guide so each individual can do much more than restore their physical health.
The Pobal Mhuire pathway leads to the physical, emotional and spiritual renaissance that is only possible as part of a loving, caring, attentive community.
